Indiana marriage bill may get stalled again

Indiana's House is now considering a constitutional amendment to protect marriage between one man and one woman. The measure passed for the fourth time in the Senate with 80 percent of the vote -- and while its fate in the House is not certain, the Indianapolis Star says it is expected to "meet a quick death.""The Senate has passed the Marriage Protection Act in Indiana, I believe, five times, and every time the Indiana House has rejected it, refused to give it a hearing or held it up in committee," laments Micah Clark, executive director at the American Family Association of Indiana.
He believes that affirmative action will result in the bill's passage. "If it got to the House floor, it would easily pass with 65 percent of the vote," Clark predicts. "This is a popular issue in Indiana, but the Democrat leadership in the House, for whatever reason, refuses to allow it to move and allow people to vote on marriage rather than having courts decide.
