In the immediate aftermath of a break-up, you likely feel pain, anger, confusion, heartache… In the midst of those feelings, it’s sometimes impossible to see anything positive coming from it but, rest assured, there is! We’ve got five ways to look at your break-up optimistically.
You have the chance to get to know yourself again. When part of a duo, it’s common for some people to see you as one half of a whole as opposed to an individual person. And maybe you’ve gotten to see yourself as such after a while, too. Being single again will help you get back in touch with yourself, and love yourself before you can love someone else again.
You’ll end up a stronger person. Some people may have never dealt with a break-up before. They can truly be a downer, but if it’s your first, you get to experience heartache. This doesn’t mean that you won’t feel the pain again during your next break-up (if only!)—just that you’ll grow, know what to expect, and be able to deal with it better.
You find out the root of your relationship problems. Every relationship is a learning experience, as is every break-up. It allows you to evaluate what kind of person you are when in a relationship, both positively and negatively. This way, you can see what mistakes you tend to make and fix them, so that you don’t bring them into your next relationship.
You get to hang with the girls again. There are many things that can get tossed to the wayside once you meet someone that you want to spend 24/7 with, and that sometimes includes your girlfriends. Being single again means touching base with friends whom you’ve missed—and who have missed you!—and will help keep your mind away from your ex and move forward.
You give yourself and your ex the chance to find true love. While it may be hard to believe right after the dissolution of your relationship, you will find love again. The fact that you and your beau have broken up means that you both are not meant to be with one another. But that isn’t necessarily a bad thing (we swear); the good news is that this leaves you both to find someone who will make you happy. Don’t you both deserve that? We think you do!
