The mystery around the elusive female orgasm has had many a scholar reaching for reference books, insisting that a combination of anatomy and the demands of daily living.
On a woman make it difficult for her to focus on such activities that may or may not bring her carnal pleasure. There are few women who seem to be as enthusiastic about exploring their sexuality as do these scholars.
In some ways this is understandable since most women are too busy doing other things (like taking over the world) to focus on such trivial pursuits.
But sexuality is an important part of anyone’s identity and it’s sad to say that many women seem to feel that sex is a waste of time over say a good trip to a shopping mall or meeting up with old friends. If anything, it should at least be on par with these things.
The question remains then why women have sex. Sure, there are the lucky few who have reached orgasm a couple of times in their lives and therefore are more likely to be interested in sex as a pastime. Their incentive to have sex is then fairly straightforward — it’s for the pleasure of it.
Most men have sex for this reason too. Don’t get me wrong, the complexities and reasons behind why men have sex is just as important, it’s only that women have a more invested interest in reasons other than pleasure. More so than men in any case.
In a book entitled "Why Women Have Sex: Understanding Sexual Motivations from Adventure to Revenge (and Everything in Between)" co-authored by Cindy M Meston and David M Buss, women interviewed by the authors suggest a wide range of reasons for sex.
Interestingly, romance and love came low down on the list. In an excerpt quoted by the DailyMail.co.uk, the authors say "Research has shown that most men find most women at least somewhat sexually attractive, whereas most women do not find most men sexually attractive at all." Perhaps this is one aspect of why women need to have so many more reasons to have sex than men do.
